TASK 1

RESEARCH & MIND MAP


Before you begin your first task your teacher will divide your class into groups of 3 or 4. You will then be given a New Years celebration to base your research on.

  • You will need to download the checklist we have put together for you to help you stay on track and ensure you get top marks on your I-QUEST. J Checklist
  • Then you should be ready and set to begin your research. Find your celebration and click on the links below to help you with your Quest.

*This section should be completed individually.

  • Once you have learnt a little more about your New Years celebration, jump onto Inspiration and create a mind map about what you already know about the celebration you are researching and what you would like to know about the country, its culture and traditions.
  • That was easy wasn’t it? Now it’s time to print it out and meet with your other group members to discuss all the new things you have learnt. Go ahead and add any new and interesting information you gathered from your friends on to your mind map, and don’t forget you can keep adding things as you progress through your I-QUEST.

 TASK 2 

CREATE A BOOK

Now that you have gained some knowledge about your cultures New Years  celebration, it is time to learn more about the Country, the culture and traditions. For this part of the I-QUEST you are to create a book with your group members.

Make sure that your team skills with this task, as each of you should be assigned a role in your group.

Each person needs to decide upon a role as you all need to make an input in this task. You can find the roles and their duties below.

Team Manager

Cultural Researcher

Historical Researcher

Demographic Researcher

Remember that the book needs to be divided into four sections. Each person should research a section each. This will make the workload even on everybody.

In your groups, your task is to research:

  • Your cultures New Year's celebration,
  • the country of origin
  • where and how the celebration takes place
  • how this culture is linked to Australia.

*You can find what you need to research about for each section in your role description and duties.

  • Once you have finished your book, your teacher will allocate a time for you to present it to the class. Each person will then present their section that they have conducted research on. The team manager will answer any questions that other class member or your teacher will ask you.
